It's now 2020. Most of the brides that I work with come to see me alone. Most mothers of the bride are happy to let their daughter (and her fiance) make the calls on their own regarding the wedding as long as it stays within reason and under budget. That being said, many moms are also left not knowing what exactly they should be doing.
Below is a quick checklist to help MOB be involved:
Help plan & pay for the engagement party
Reach out to grooms family (Especially his mother) to make their acquaintance and start (or continue) a lovely relationship.
Help bride with her wedding gown selection
Choose your dress early and provide Mother of the Groom with details on your gown.
Be supportive of bride's vision for her wedding day.
Old, New, Borrowed, Blue
Invitations are traditionally sent from the parents of the bride. If this is the case, collect addresses from the couple, the grooms family, and become familiar with the invitation timeline. Either way, prepare your addresses.
Day-of help bride step into her dress.
Tell her she's the most beautiful bride you've ever seen.
